Faces of the Future: Celebrating Our Interns

Faces of the Future: Celebrating Our Interns

Today, we celebrate National Intern Day, an opportunity to recognize the hard work and impact interns are having throughout their summer internships.

This summer marked Scout Motors’ second-ever intern cohort, and we couldn’t be prouder to highlight the talented individuals who have become familiar faces and valued members of our teams throughout our Novi, MI, and Columbia, SC, offices.

Among the first 1,000 Scout Motors employees, this intern class has contributed fresh ideas and energy to projects in engineering, UX, finance, production, strategy and brand, and more. Representing more than 10 universities — including University of South Carolina, University of Michigan, and Michigan State University — our interns are helping shape the next generation of Scout® vehicles.

Many interns arrived with a passion for innovation in the automotive industry. Finance Intern Alex Martin said it was the Scout® brand that really drew him in — he’s been a car enthusiast his whole life, so this felt like the perfect place to make an impact.

“I love to be outdoors, anything that gets me outside — and Scout Motors really aligns with that. I thought, why not bring together my outdoor passion with my work, and my passion for vehicles,” Alex said. “I found that Scout Motors was a great fit and a great company to work for.”

Other members of the intern class were drawn to our company for its unique, fast-paced culture. Production Intern Haley McVey says she didn’t expect to fall in love with the automotive industry — but after a summer at Scout Motors, she’s all in.

“The automotive industry was a whole new territory for me. This internship has created a love for automotive, especially due to all the great people I’ve met, and I’m invested in seeing all the planning come to life once Scout Motors starts manufacturing on-site in my hometown.”

This year’s intern cohort has had a unique opportunity to contribute to their teams in the formative stages of Scout Motors’ development. Morgan Carra, Environmental Compliance intern, shared that this sets Scout Motors apart and has allowed her to take on meaningful work throughout her summer.

“Scout Motors integrates interns into the company’s broader activities,” she said. “You’re not just given menial tasks, you’re included in company-wide initiatives and discussions as a valued member of the team, providing a much more meaningful internship experience. Being part of this foundational stage is incredibly exciting and provides a level of exposure and impact that is genuinely distinct.”

Because interns have taken on a wide range of responsibilities this summer, they are leaving with portfolios to show off, experiences to be proud of, and new technical skills developed. Braden Guliano, AI Implementation intern, has valued the opportunity to own his results.

“The most exciting thing about this work is the fact that it has a real-world impact,” he said. “As interns, we’re getting to introduce these concepts into the Scout Motors Production Center as it’s being built. Not only are we learning really cool things about the industry but applying them and having the chance to see them implemented down the road.”

Alongside professional development, interns have had the chance to enjoy the experience through fun events like employee networking bingo and community volunteering opportunities. Data Platform Intern George Elengikal says one of the best parts of the summer has been getting to know other interns and teammates — it’s made the whole experience even more meaningful.

“As well as an amazing professional experience, we have also had the opportunity to build relationships with people across all departments and the other interns,” George said. “Interns have weekly lunches, have a Wordle competition every week, and send our song of the day each workday. It’s been super fun being able to form connections that will last past this summer at Scout Motors.”

It’s not just our brand and products; our Scout Motors company and people are all about connection. Interns from both offices echoed how networking is one of the top things they’ve gained from the internship experience. Braden Guliano gives advice to future intern classes to focus on building meaningful professional connections within the Scout community.

“Network as much as you can, especially in the first couple of weeks,” Braden said. “There are so many people here that have incredible backgrounds and life experiences that you can learn from. Everyone is super friendly, willing to share more about themselves, and offer help in any way that you need.”

While our second intern class has made a name for itself in Scout history, there is lots to look forward to in the coming years as Scout Motors works to bring our new Scout vehicles to life. For Evans Dozier, Commercial Operations intern, the highlight of his time was the company’s collaborative spirit.

“I would definitely recommend this internship to others,” Evans said. “I think that the culture gives interns an environment where information is everywhere and you can learn about how a company is built from the ground up. Second, I believe that Scout Motors’ workplace environment is incomparable to other companies. At Scout, everyone is willing to help and loves what they are doing — we all want to see each other succeed.”

Our interns have been a part of something truly special this summer and have blazed a trail on their teams and set a high bar for future interns to come. Today’s National Intern Day is easy to celebrate.

Thank you, Scout Motors Summer 2025 Interns!
