AUGUST 2026 - Blythewood, South Carolina
Welcome to our monthly progress update on the construction of the new Scout Motors Production Center.
In March 2023, we announced our plans to bring Scout® vehicles back to American roads—built at a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Blythewood, South Carolina. Spanning more than 1,100 acres and located just 20 minutes northeast of Columbia, the site was thoughtfully chosen for its strong community, workforce, and infrastructure.
This $2 billion investment represents more than a factory—it’s a long-term commitment to the region, expected to create more than 4,000 permanent jobs. At full capacity, the Production Center will be capable of building up to 200,000 vehicles annually, or roughly 40 vehicles every hour.
We’re excited to take you along as this vision becomes reality and to share the latest progress as construction continues.
As shown above, our Production Center is anchored by key facilities including the Body Shop, Paint Shop, and Final Assembly buildings. The site also features a state-of-the-art training center for our employees and a dedicated supplier park.
We continue to make progress in the construction phase while advancing production readiness for the assembly of the new Scout vehicles: Scout Traveler™, a full-size SUV, and Scout Terra™, a full-size pickup truck. The new Scout trucks are designed to be built on a newly developed, rugged, body-on-frame vehicle platform. Each truck will be available with either an extended-range Harvester™ option with a gasoline engine, targeting up to 500 miles of range 1, or a battery-electric model with an estimated 350-mile range.2
We are now accepting $100, fully refundable reservations to hold your spot in line for the new Scout trucks.3 To learn more about each vehicle, you can click on the images below.
August 2026 Update
The photo above shows continued work at the Supplier Park. Access roads, parking lots, rail supply lines, and more are all going in and show substantial progress.
Last September, Scout Motors announced an additional $300 million investment in South Carolina to build a Supplier Park on the site of its Production Center in Blythewood. This initiative is expected to support approximately 1,000 additional supplier jobs and represents a critical expansion of the company’s existing investment of more than $2 billion in the state.
The Supplier Park will serve as a central logistics and production hub, supporting seamless delivery of parts, batteries, and accessories to Scout Motors’ main assembly operations. The size and scope of the park reflect Scout Motors’ strategy to build a fully integrated, domestic supply chain for its trucks and SUVs.
Body Shop
In our Body Shop (above), equipment training is ongoing; robotics are undergoing testing, and body systems are producing active test builds.
In the photo below, you can see one of several turntables. This turntable rotates the completed Scout body and aligns it with the proper track into the paint shop tunnel connection (see paint shop below).
Paint Shop
In our Paint Shop (above) is a view of the tunnel bridge connecting the Body Shop with the Paint Shop. Conveyors are actively being tested between the two buildings as test materials move from one building to the next.
Assembly
Our Assembly area (above) continues to make major progress. Assembly conveyor systems continue to be installed at ground level. This photo shows one of the first views of the “marriage” area, where the frame and suspension components on the lower level are joined to the body lowered from the tracks above.
