wo new Scout® Traveler™ concepts. Two very different takes on where it can go. Our latest concepts explore two sides of the Traveler SUV, each bringing its own approach to design, materials, capability, and utility.
Mountainside: A New Side of the Scout Traveler
Meet Mountainside, the newest Scout® Traveler™ concept and the latest Traveler concept to join our growing stable.
It’s an entirely new concept vehicle, inside and out, and unmistakably a Scout truck: capable, useful, and rugged. But this time, we turned the dial toward something warmer, quieter, and a little more refined. Less rocky trailhead at sunrise, more cozy cabin at golden hour.
“Mountainside is our new concept theme that is capturing a softer side of Scout,” designer Peyton Sullivan said. It remains adventurous while conveying a warmer, family-oriented energy and mood. “We want a sense of quiet luxury that is welcoming, like the door is always open.”
Mountainside arrives wearing a new color called Morning Dusk, a deep charcoal brown that initially reads dark and understated. But catch it in the right sunlight and something else happens. Fine golden metallic highlights begin to emerge from the paint, changing its character as light moves across the body.

Scout vehicles were born and bred outdoors, so of course we turn to great American landscapes for continued inspiration. This time, it came from a familiar sight out West.
“Our exterior body color is inspired by the sun rising over the mountains and watching the first glimmer of light in the morning,” Sullivan said. “It’s a rich charcoal brown with golden flakes to be revealed in the highlight.”
Minimalism defines the exterior of the vehicle.
There’s no roof rack. No rear spare tire carrier. Instead, the Traveler SUV’s familiar silhouette is left clean and uninterrupted, with a panoramic sunroof opening the cabin to plenty of sky above. Down below, 35-inch tires wrap around 22-inch Vault wheels finished in Anodized Black with brushed detailing.
Open the door and Mountainside gets warmer. A lot warmer.
The Alpine District interior was imagined around the feeling of a big family cabin in the late afternoon: boots by the door, something cooking in the kitchen. The materials are what do most of the talking here. Semi-aniline leather retains the natural markings of the hide instead of hiding them, giving the seats the character and variation of the material itself. Just like that old leather couch you love so much that’s perfectly worn.
Custom grey woven fabrics introduce a subtle plaid pattern and suiting-inspired feel. Recycled walnut trim adds another natural surface, while warm accent colors carry through the cabin.
Look up and houndstooth accent material wraps the pillars and roof, adding pattern and texture without shouting for attention.
It’s comfortable, familiar, warm, and cozy, while rugged knobs and toggles remain throughout the interior.
“As always, we are focused on authentic materials,” Sullivan said. “In the Mountainside vehicle we feature semi-aniline leather with natural markings, custom knit fabrics with a suiting heritage feel, recycled walnut, and warmth woven through in our accent colors.”
Stainless steel speaker grilles feature our Harvester™ pattern, bringing another ruggedly refined material into the cabin.
Quiet luxury, at least around here, doesn’t mean being afraid to touch anything. Leather, wood, metal: things that can age, change, and hopefully look even better after a few years of use.
The Trail-Ready Concept: Built for the Long Way Around
Through mud and snow, across deserts, up mountains, down trails, to places where pavement is a distant memory. That spirit has defined Scout® vehicles for generations. So what if we took that adventurous spirit and turned the dial even further?
Meet our new trail-ready concept. Reimagined for the avid off-road adventurer, the Scout ®Traveler™ SUV concept is dressed in Galvanized Steel, a new exterior color inspired by raw metal, hard-wearing tools, and gear built to survive the elements. It’s function-forward, purpose-built, and ready to point toward the horizon.
“Galvanized Steel is more than just a color, it evokes raw metal and true function,” designer Katherine Rays said. “The palette shows weathered shadows and a deep charcoal-like metallic, grounding the look in utility.”
It’s workwear in SUV form.
The Galvanized Steel body is paired with an accent color we’re calling Canvas on the roof and the familiar black Cabana Top™, preserving the Traveler SUV concept’s open-air experience. But the biggest changes come from the concept’s new accessories. Look a little lower—or higher, or around back—and our new trail-ready concept starts showing just how capable it really is.
New off-road front and rear bumpers are designed around approach and departure angles while adding the utility needed farther off the pavement. A built-in winch lives up front, complete with a unique winch hook, while the rear bumper incorporates a trailer hitch.
Rock rails help protect the body down below. Up top, an off-road roof rack adds rails and sturdy crossbars, providing a place for exterior gear-hauling. Around back, an exterior spare tire carrier holds a full-size spare and a jerrycan for rigs equipped with the Harvester™ gas-powered range extender. Even the fuel door gets the treatment with a Harvester design.
And of course, there are some new shoes.
Thirty-five-inch off-road tires wrap around 18-inch beadlock wheels finished in a combination of gloss and satin black. Big tire, smaller wheel, plenty of sidewall—the kind of stance that tells you exactly what this Traveler concept was built to do.
Our approach was to add function and utility, whether that means clearing an obstacle, protecting the body, carrying more gear, pulling yourself out, or towing something behind.
Open the door and, fittingly, that workwear theme continues. The Denim District interior is paired with Brick Red leather and denim-inspired textiles. The combination looks back to the Scout brand’s working-class and agricultural roots, when materials were chosen first because they needed to work hard and last.
All that added capability opens up a whole lot more of the map: rough trails, remote campsites, mountain passes, or that little road you’ve always wondered about. The trail-ready concept is built around the idea that a Scout truck should help you get farther out and bring what you need along for the ride. More utility means more possibilities.
