Scouts Go Farther - Shaniqua Tassin
Welcome to our Scout Motors employee spotlight featuring Production Systems Team member Shaniqua Tassin.
Some people walk into a room quietly. Shaniqua Tassin walks in with presence. Calm, grounded, and radiating the kind of positivity you can feel before she ever says a word.
“I operate in the frequency of love,” she said, her eyes focused. “Nothing is given or taken, only experienced.”
It’s more than a philosophy. It’s the way she approaches life, work, and every relationship she builds at Scout Motors.
Shaniqua is part of the Production Systems Team, where she helps ensure shopfloor readiness. It’s a role that balances process discipline with a very human heartbeat, something she’s made her mission from day one.
“Our job touches the people building the vehicles,” she explained. “I like to think of it almost like employee engagement. We’re building vehicles, but we’re also building an experience for the people who make them.”
Her team’s motto is simple: better every day. And Shaniqua embodies it with a self-starter mindset, an openness to learning, and a deep belief in acknowledging the people around her.
“Something I learned early in life is that you’ll always have to rely on people,” she said. “There are very few things in this world you can do alone.”
From Michigan Roots to a South Carolina Future
A proud Michigander.
“Scout #000782, born in the Automotive Capital of the world,” she likes to say. Shaniqua grew up surrounded by the Big Three (General Motors, Ford, Stellantis). Early in her career, she worked the hard, gritty jobs that taught her what resilience really looks like.
She remembers watching groups of engineers walk by spotless while she finished another tough shift. Curiosity took hold.
“I wanted to know how to get there. Someone told me, ‘You have to work twice as hard as everyone else.’ So, I did.”
From there, she pushed herself to learn more, take on more, and stretch beyond wherever she happened to be planted. She challenged herself at every stop — even trading friendly banter with Elon Musk while at Tesla — and ultimately followed her passion for people to Scout Motors.
Today, Shaniqua’s days are filled with cross-functional collaboration, which is exactly how she likes it. She’s helping develop the orientation package for new production employees, supporting the K-12 workforce pipeline, and tirelessly advocating for skilled trade careers.
She loves encouraging curiosity in others because it’s what opened every door for her.
“Stay true to your curious self,” she says. “That’s how I got here.”
And at Scout, she sees that same curiosity shaping the company’s future, especially in its commitment to hiring locally and investing in South Carolina’s next generation of builders and engineers.

Outside of work, Shaniqua embraces everything she loves about her new home in South Carolina: the heat, the outdoors, the welcoming vibe, and yes … the fact that she can wear camouflage anytime she wants.
Her close-knit family celebrates fiercely whenever they’re together, and one day, she dreams of opening her own food truck.
Ask Shaniqua what motivates her, and her answer is simple: positive change.
“It takes only one seed to grow a forest,” she says. A reminder that even small efforts can shape something strong, lasting, and meaningful.
