n the early days, each truck wore its owner’s life on its sheet metal. From the beginning, these trucks have lived comfortably in two worlds—equally ready for a hard day’s work or a well-earned day of play. Some trucks carried surfboards and beach towels, others hauled camping or climbing gear, skis and fishing poles—all fit with the family for road-trip memories. These trucks became our companions—vehicles shaped as much by lifestyle as by necessity.
When we launched the new Scout® Traveler™ concept, the goal was simple: evoke the original spirit of the Traveler SUV, while embodying adventure and honoring our roots. We took our heritage and fit it within a modern, full-size electric SUV that’s ready for both city streets and dusty trails.
With the Pacific Mist re-theme, we tapped back into that original spirit—and then some. We wanted to show how the modern Traveler SUV can lean into adventure, expression, and weekend joy, proving that capability doesn’t have to come at the expense of personality. Scout vehicles have always lived at the intersection of work and play, equally useful when hauling loads as they are when heading for the surf break. The Pacific Mist edition is meant to inspire owners to imagine their own version—because a Scout vehicle should feel as individual as the journey it’s built for.
The debut of this edition is an exciting look at the road we’re headed down.
Front and center is the new Pacific Mist paint job—a hand-developed color mixed in-house by Scout Motors’ design team. Aileen Barraza, the Director of Color, Materials, and Finish Design, describes the inspiration as “the mist that rises when waves crash into the Pacific Coast cliffs.” Think Southern California—Crystal Cove, Laguna Beach, anything along the Pacific Coast Highway. The color shifts subtly with light, too—from silver on overcast days to blue when the sun hits it. To accomplish this, the team used a multi-layer, three-stage finish designed to highlight the Traveler SUV’s classic lines.
Additionally on the exterior, this version of the Traveler concept leans into a stronger contrast by using purposeful styling cues to amplify its destination-ready vibe. Unique blacked-out rims provide a robust visual foundation, while the black upper panel creates a premium floating-roof effect. Even the door handles are finished in a new black, sharpening the contrast against the new paint.

The Pacific Mist edition continues to the interior, with more life-styling. It’s an example of what Aileen calls “heritage reimagined”—traditional materials and palettes, newly executed. Inside, the Traveler SUV trades its neutral exterior tones for a luxury brick red leather interior with denim-inspired accents. As Aileen frames it: “cowboy boots and jeans, dress slacks and dress shoes—a modern interpretation of classic American materials.”
While much of the Pacific Mist story is told through new color and materials, the Scout Traveler’s functionality and capabilities define the concept just as much. From the ground up, the Traveler SUV features larger 22-inch wheels, wrapped in chunky 35-inch BFGoodrich® all-terrain T/A KO3®tires. It’s an intentionally unusual and visually striking combination. Taylor Langhals, Chief Exterior Designer, notes that it’s a “unique look that doesn’t really exist in the marketplace right now,” juxtaposing luxury, urban presence, and true off-road capability.
We know you like to play as hard as you work. This re-theme also sees the introduction of a multifunctional roof rack further blending utility with style. Built to support everything from surfboards to camping equipment, even fishing rods and skis. It also acts as a mounting point for future accessories, making the Pacific Mist edition a preview of where we’re headed. The addition of a track system and built-in tie-down points leave the door open for new accessories in the future.
And let’s not forget the new rear carrier—an iconic detail from the original Scout concepts that’s evolved into a fully reimagined system. We removed the spare tire and fitted an all-new “backpack” accessory, turning the rear carrier into a modular storage solution. With two compartments, it’s perfect for both wet and dry storage—wetsuits, picnic kits, camping gear, anything needing storing. The idea is to celebrate the Traveler SUV’s versatility, letting the owners define their needs. All of these upgrades are a sneak peek at the road ahead.

Together these changes drive the Traveler concept from a modern electric SUV to an outdoor-inspired, lifestyle-forward vehicle while showing off a whole new personality.
The Pacific Mist Scout Traveler is beach-ready for late-afternoon surf sessions and weekend road trips to Baja. It’s equal parts urban daily driver and coastal adventure companion. More importantly, it shows what the Scout trucks and SUVs are becoming: not just a vehicle, but a platform for personal expression.
This edition, as Aileen puts it, is Scout Motors’ chance to “flex our design muscles and inspire.” It previews what future packages could look like—distinct palettes, trim sets, gear systems, and accessories built around specific use cases.
The Pacific Mist Edition invites owners to imagine what their own version could be. Scout Motors is moving beyond the vehicle itself, and into the story it tells. With concepts like Pacific Mist, we’re inviting you to choose more than specs—we’re inviting you to define your lifestyle.
