Welcome to our Scout Motors employee spotlight featuring Manager Product Management Energy System Products, Ramin Mirshab

Where do you call home?

Royal Oak, Michigan is where I currently reside. However, I spent my early childhood years in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and adolescent life in Houston Texas.

What motivates you at work?

My motivation at work stems from a passion for excellence, thriving on challenges and growth opportunities. Contributing to a collaborative team environment and aligning with the organization’s mission drives my dedication. Making a difference, pushing boundaries of what’s possible and continuous learning inspire me daily.

How did you get into your current field?

My journey into the Automotive Industry began with a lifelong passion for cars and anything mechanical, fostered since childhood. This fascination led me to channel my passion into a purpose, inspiring me to pursue a degree in Engineering. I seized the opportunity to participate in a leadership development program straight out of college at a major OEM after participating in internships. This program offered a unique and diversified toolset, providing a comprehensive view of the industry across various functions. During that time, I acquired technical expertise and essential soft skills necessary for success in today’s dynamic professional landscape. This foundation ultimately paved the way for me to thrive at Scout Motors.

What does a typical day at Scout look like for you?

There is no typical day, and I love it! It’s like a daily puzzle with pieces of problem-solving, and team bonding fitting together to create a masterpiece.

What was exciting to you about joining Scout?

Joining Scout Motors was an exhilarating prospect, blending the freedom of working in a startup with the unparalleled expertise of the world’s largest automaker. This unique opportunity allows for reviving a classic American icon and help shape it to be an industry leading vehicle. Working alongside a handpicked team of like-minded and talented individuals promised both personal and professional growth along with the fulfillment of contributing to something truly extraordinary.

What skills do you use on an everyday basis?

On a daily basis, I rely on strategic thinking to plan and execute highly adaptable and nimble plans along with communication to effectively convey the vision, problem-solving to overcome obstacles, adaptability to navigate changing circumstances to persevere through challenges. Combining these skills with a technical background enables me to rapidly understand key areas of improvement everyday.

What has been one highlight of your journey here so far?

The highlight of my journey here so far has been the incredible opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of individuals from around the world. Working alongside such a dynamic team has not only enriched my professional experience but also fostered a culture of innovation and creativity within our organization.

What is one thing about you most folks don’t know?

I am a second generation American who is bilingual and has been able to grow up in a household with a unique view on what it means to be an American. My parents are both originally from Iran and I can speak Farsi fluently!

What is your favorite hobby?

My favorite hobby is working with my hands and getting involved with projects that require technical thinking. I’ve restored several classic cars dating back to the 60’s and am always tinkering with a new project. This has led me to develop, test and market components for sale in the aftermarket from engines to complete electronic fuel injection conversion kits. Through this hobby I’ve been able to own classic American muscle cars, British roadsters/offroaders and German sports coupes/sedans.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?

Japan due to its rich history and fascinating blend of tradition and modernityI’d love to explore Tokyo at night and discover its many hidden gems and try authentic foods while being immersed in a vibrant culture.

If you could go back and tell your 13-year-old self anything, what would it be?

It will all work out! Embrace curiosity, pursue passions and don’t be afraid of failure. Trust the Journey ahead. Most importantly… stop and smell the roses.

Where do you hope to be in five years?

In five years, I envision myself behind the wheel of a brandnew Scout truck, cruising through the mountains of Colorado alongside my Australian Shepherd. Simultaneously, I see myself passionately developing the next groundbreaking innovation, driving forward towards a future of sustainable mobility.
